Saturday Racing on Port Phillip
Racing at QLYC is conducted on Saturdays in Summer.
Briefings are conducted at the Queenscliff Harbour and a varied program of racing is held with a mixed fleet.
Handicap racing is conducted in three divisions: couta boats, fixed keel and trailerable yachts, and larger racing yachts.
Generally races are around QLYC standard courses commencing near the Queenscliff Harbour, with a variable starting and finishing line and utilizing fixed marks in Port Phillip Bay for each leg of the course.
The fleet includes couta boats, small to medium keelboats, trailer sailers, and ocean racing yachts.
Members’ vessels are moored either, in pens within the Queenscliff Harbour Marina or off the Queenscliff Cruising Yacht Club – on swing and pile moorings.
A season of racing features trophy races and two major series per summer. Most races contribute to an aggregate series championship.
We welcome new members and new vessels to our fleet.
Details of the season, including a notice of race, schedule of racing, sailing instructions, standard courses and ways to register your vessel can be found here.
QLYC invites interested persons to Discover Sailing through crewing using our day pass system - Sailpass.
We also have a popular sailing training program and encourage the participation of female sailers in cooperation with She Sails Victoria.
